A Discourse Approach in Reading Week 6

  Descriptive continued  

We continued from last week about 'Descriptive'. The teacher told correct answers to us in exercise B which match each word with the correct meaning. Next, we read the Komodo Dragon text again to find adjectives that describe komodo dragon and highlighted it.

After that, we read and answered questions of text 2 which is Budapest, to describe about tourist attractions in Budapest. It's located on the Danube River in western Hungary. Before 1873, the site was home to two separate towns, Buda and Pest, located on either side of the river.

The teacher assigned us to mark the word that describe the places according to the text.

Then, we read text 3 that told us about Prague, it describe the city of Prague and its uniqueness. The teacher told us to find the adjectives which describe Prague in this text.

Last text that we read was Text 4, it describes Bert and Doris's appearances and characteristics. We underlined the adjectives in the text and completed the table to describe both of them.

The teacher assigned us to work in group for describe somethings. My group got 'Animal' so, we chose 'Lion' to describe it. I would like to show you about our work.

Text 4 was the easiest because I usually describe people.

What did you find difficult?
Adjectives which describe the places were hard


What did you solve the problem? 
I read text by non-stopping in first time and guessed the word. After finish reading, I will find meaning from dictionary.

What are your attitudes towards the lesson?
I should learn more about vocabularies: adjectives words that describe the place, animal, people, and thing.

A Discourse Approach in Reading Week 5

Description

 

Today we took a test for 1 hour about Recount and Narratives. I tried to do my best I hope I will pass the exam.

We started to study a new lesson that it was 'Describtive'. Teacher showed pictures and asked us that what did you see in the picture? The pictures are green darner dragonflies, Ants, Actresses between Julia Roberts and Pancake Khemanit Jamikorn, Budapest, Prague. We described and reveal a particular person, animal, place, or thing.

Next we read the text about 'Komodo Dragon (Varanus Komodoensis)' and found the answer for questions by made the spider web. Finally, teacher assigned homework to us to do every exercise in this sheet.

What did you find easy?   
the adjectives that explain things or person are easy for me because I usually see the words in everyday life.

What did you find difficult?  
The descriptive animals is difficult because some words hardly ever use  in real life and I have never met it before.

What did you solve the problem?
Sometimes, I guessed it from the context or search in dictionary

 
What are your attitudes towards the lesson?
This lesson helps us visualize and understand a topic, it also explains the characteristics of the subject or topic and the description uses descriptive adjective explain person, animal, place, or thing, it makes my vocabulary increased.
