Week 7 : Fashion

     Today we studied the new lesson. It was a 'Fashion'. First the teacher assigned us to write vocabularies about fashion onto the board. I learned new vocabularies such as halter top, platform shoes, fishnet stocking and etc.

     We read the article in our sheet. The headline was 'Fusion? Confusion!'. It was about the woman name's Yumiko, a student from Tokyo studying in U.S, have found herself in difficulty because of  her clothes. She had two bad experiences when she arrived there. The first time was a Saturday night when she went out with some students at her university. A lot of people stares at her because her clothes  were different. The second time a man approached her and wanted to take her away because the way she dress. Yumiko realized that her clothes caused the two problems. When American people go out, they rarely dress up. They usually wear comfortable clothes such as jeans, T-shirt, and sneakers. It's interesting to learn that the image you get of a country from the TV is often very different in reality.

     I had problem about how to use skimming and scanning. I can't find main idea in the passage. I usually think the detail of passage is a main idea. I should try to read and find main idea as much as I can do.


What knowledge do you get this week? 
     When you go to somewhere you should learn thier culture and do like they do. Like a this idiom

'When in Rome, do as the Romans do'

 

 Answer the questions

1.Yumiko had the wrong idea about American students because of American TV programs. Do you think the TV programs about your country are true to life? Give some examples.

No, they don't because on TV programs, they show good- quality clothes and have a lot of accessories but in real life most of people wear comfortable clothes.

 

2.Think of some things that Western students may be surprised about when they come to study in your country. For example, the clothes students wear, the hairstyles, the food, etc.

I think Western students may be surprised about Thai student uniform because they don't have student uniform when they are studying the in university but Thailand still has it. Hairstyle for the student grade 7-10. They need to have short hair and the food of Thailand is very spizy for Westerner such as Som-tam, Tom-yum-kung, etc.

Week 6 : Technology (continued)

7 September 2015

This week I learned about Technology is continued from last week. Before we started the class. We have a few test about lesson 1 and 2 that are 'Healthy Diet' and 'Natural disaster'. I think I did it not well because I can't found the main idea and I want to improve it.


Today we studied in worksheet first then we made groups for discuss about technology. Each group had 7-8 persons per group. Every group had different topic to discuss. My topic was Blogger. When we disscussed in our group already we had to share our information to another group. I like to learn like this! it's not boring for me. Everybody spoke in English to explain their information. It was very nice because you can improve your speaking and listening but absolutely we have problem too such as some friends don't understand what I said and I explained to them in Thai. 


The last teacher assigned us to write about information that you get from this activity and I'll write it on my blog.

Type of blogs used in language teaching
- the tutor blog is run by the teacher as syllabus corse, information lesson, homework assignment.
- the class blog is a share space with teacher and student
- the learner blog is the student's own personal online space and can post comments on other students blogs

Why blog?
Why should  you use blog with your student? One of the best reason is to provide a real audience for students. The real audience can see and comment on students blog not only their teachers.

Using for weblog
- practice for student 
- all student can read blog 
- have knowledge more than in class, repeat the lesson in blog
- for shy student
- to stimulate for discussion
- profile
- to help build relationship stronger





Podcast

Lesson online for practice listening skill. The name of digital program podcast is mp3 file useful in school, students, and teacher. Not only mp3 but also computer can play mp3 too. You can review lesson by download podcast. You can listening online or download.


Facebook

Start in USA for student deverlop to social network for communication with the other. You can share link that you are interested, find friends, can send message to people very quick.


Disadvantage
- be careful about the information that you share on facebook

Advantage
- exchange views
- good communication 

Search engine

Like a vest library online. You can search book. It is a special web, find data or everything you want, including google, yahoo, bing, ask. This is popular website.

Using keyword

1.When you want to know something. You can search on search engine and click search bottom.
2.You will see lists of your search.
3.Can read knowledge

Be aware

Search everything do you want to know, search engine like a robot. You can't trust or believe everything that the search show you.

Week 5 : Technology

What did I learn today?

Today I learned about Technology.  Last week teacher assigned us to find information about technology for prepare this lesson. I chose 'Why is the internet so important?' to discuss with my friend. We changed our opinion together. Absolutely we talked in English.

Then teacher gave worksheet for us. This is a 'Today's technology'. We read the article is 'Profcards'  and answered the question. In this article I found new vocabularies and new knowledge that I have never known before. 

Profcasts summarized
Profcasts are very popular. You can listen to or watch the lesson where or when you want. It's very comfortable for students but it has a few disadvantage. If you don't have mp3 player or your own laptop, you will use the university computer, so it can be difficult to concentrate and when you're listening the lesson, everyone never knows what are you doing between studying or listening to music.

Natural disaster continued     

    
    The first activity that we did was discussion with partner about what you studied from last week.

    We read news story 3 it was "Landslides kill 9 in Doti and Gulmi districts of Nepal" and answered the questions. Then teacher gave new sheets for us. 


Japan earthquake: Tsunami hits north-east (News story 4)

     This story was very hard for me because I did'n know some word. I used skimming to find the answer, wrote T or F in the space provided and wrote unfamiliar words and find their meaning from dictionaries. I noted the words in paper. It was very shocking. It had many words and I think that time I should read more vocabularies.

     I read this story sometime I understood but sometime not. I used skimming again but I can't answer the questions only by myself some question I copied my friend. When I read the news, I got stressed because I did't like to read news and I have'n read news in english before and I was try

 







Week 3 : Natural disasters

    This was third week  to learn about English Reading Strategies subject. The topic was Natural disaster.  I found the news , that is a flood news  for discuss with friends and changed our opinion together. Teacher  opened  video about natural disaster. It was Tsunami in Japan.  This video showed us about when Tsunami coming the water will destroy everything in that area such as car and building.Then teacher gave us to write vocabularies about natural disaster on the board.

     Today we read 2 news stories. The first news was 'Myanmar flooding affects one million' and the second news was 'Typhoon Soudelor hits China with deaths,floods and mudslides'

     After that teacher explained the news and helped us to answer the questions in sheet. In the passage you can see 3 past on it that are Headline, Lead, and Body/Detail.

     Finally, I had presentation with my group. We presented 

"Cornflakes Cereals Honey is healthy because it has a lot of 
cereals such raisin , corn , Whole-grain and honey. It has high vitamin and antioxidant that can healthy because It doesn’t has cholesterol and sugar.so Cornflakes Cereals Honey for who to want lose weight.
